The Sensitive Side of Elvis Comes Through
By Ron on July 2, 2018
Everybody knows Elvis was an electrifying performer of
rock and roll, but he was a complex and deeply
spiritual man who read books on philosophy and was a
sensitive soul who had a quiet side. This CD captures
this aspect of his personality. He sings with more
restraint in that wonderfully warm baritone (with the
very wide range) that he could use to touch people’s
hearts. The word “intimate” comes to mind because
these songs are that. With very pretty new musical
elements added to freshen these old tracks up, they
sound like Elvis just stepped out of the recording
booth. Even though a lot of Elvis’s female fans will
be especially attracted to these romantic songs, I
suspect a lot of men will too, because the emotions
conveyed are universal. There are big hits represented
here that sound better than ever before with the new
treatments, (they really come alive!) but I also
enjoyed some lesser-known songs that had been buried
in albums. This CD contains some of Elvis’s finest
vocal performances, without a doubt. A real treasure.
THIS IS THE WAY THE SONGS SHOULD SOUND
By Cal Crenshaw on July 2, 2018
you CAN improve on perfection, and this CD release
proves it. On each song, just the right new musical
addition has been made — be it strings, horns,
guitars, percussion — to fill gaps on the originals
that I never realized were there until I went back and
listened to how some of these songs sounded when first
released. On “The Tender Side of Elvis,” the songs now
seem complete. This was obviously very carefully
thought through and hence enhances rather than
detracts from EP’s performances. Unlike some of the
RPO overdubs, Elvis’s voice here is never covered up.
The new sounds are so well integrated, it’s sometimes
hard to tell what has been added, except you just
sense that these new versions are amazingly better —
truly “new and improved”! The truth is some of the
recordings Elvis made (such as for movies) were
slapped together rather haphazardly by the producers
(no reflection on Elvis himself) and they didn’t seem
to care what they sounded like because, after all, it
was Elvis Presley and it would sell. Now these songs
have been treated the way they should have been to
begin with, including having grating background
singing or instruments removed and replaced with
better music. The result is very satisfying.

on a set of headphones and immerse yourself in a truly
fantastic listening experience. Not only do the new
musical enhancements make these songs sound fresh and
new, I swear I have never heard Elvis's voice sound
better. It is resonant, rich, wide-ranging, as he goes
from deep tones to falsetto with ease. This collection
really shows off what an exceptional singer Mr.
Presley was. Long live the King!
Not expecting much...but pleasantly surprised!

I tried to set aside my bias against overdubs and
listen objectively, and I found to my surprise
that I actually like what I heard!
Admittedly some of these songs were rather
forgettable in their original form. A few were
substandard compositions and although Elvis did
his best, the musical arrangements on the
originals were lackluster. But to the credit of
the producer of "Tender Side Of", he has shrewdly
added what's needed to make these songs very
listenable. I believe a bit of a miracle has been
This CD also includes the iconic songs like "Are
You Lonesome Tonight?" (and others), and they have
been tastefully improved but with careful
restraint. Nothing overdone like the RPO fiasco.
We all like the originals but you simply can't
dismiss the new treatments on "The Tender Side of
Elvis." They are too good to ignore.
He may have been the King of Rock and Roll but
he was sure a sensitive singer of love songs!!

new arrangements breathe new life into the old tired
songs we've heard a million times before. Like having
a totally new CD from Elvis. Well done!
Worth a place in anyone's collection

Absolutely wonderful and not to be missed!
This is a must have!

This is one of the best
Elvis products I have bought in a long time. This is
of course not intended as a replacement for the
originals, but as a really nice supplement. I would
recommend this to any fan, or to people who like
great songs powered by an even greater voice, as
Elvis' voice has never sounded clearer before.

This album contains some of my favorite Elvis
classics, but done a new way. My daughter is getting
married and she is even going to have this new version
of "Loving You" played at her wedding. No previous
version of this song has ever sounded this grand!
FINALLY A CD WORTH BUYING
By Jim on July 12, 2018
Finally a cd worth
buying. As a life long Elvis fan, they finally
got it right. They really did a great job with
revamping his music. It gives a whole different
perspective and dynamic range to the songs,
while preserving what was good about the
originals. I think if Elvis was here today he
would be impressed. I would highly recommend for
anyone who loves Elvis to buy this cd. You won't
regret it at all. Very Very well done.

I have been a
huge Elvis fan since 1956. This has to be one
of the best albums ever. (I also enjoyed the
recent release "Elvis A New Way" which
apparently was done using the same musicians).

is now one of my favorite Elvis albums!
"There's Always Me" has a gorgeous
string section. "Forget Me Never" has a
bluegrass feel with steel, dobro, etc.
"True Love" has sweeping glissandos that
make the song sparkle (and they
lengthened it). "Where Do You Come From"
has pretty strings. "I Will Be Home
Again" has Elvis singing with his ex
Army buddy Charlie Hodge and beautiful
guitar work has been added. "Anything
That's Part Of You" has an underlying
piano that sets the mood (very Nashville
Sound) with beautiful string
arrangement. "Can't Help Falling In
Love" has never sounded better. "Love Me
Tender" has a wonderful female singer
(Cassie West) singing with Elvis (and
btw, it's better than any previous
versions). Simply superb.
Elvis, this CD is special. I am so happy
that I was listening to Elvis Express
Radio. They played 3 songs and I knew I
had to buy this CD!!! I went to Amazon and
looked the CD up and there it was but it
wasn't for sale yet. So I purchased from
Good Music Store and received my order in
a couple of days. I sat down and put the
CD and wondered if the entire CD would be
as good as the 3 songs played on EER, and
I have to say it IS! To listen to Elvis
with his voice now so clear, and with the
orchestra music in the back ground, is
just a wonderful experience. Whoever is
the one respondable for putting this CD
out deserves a big Thank you. Great job.

MASTERFUL NEW MUSICAL ARRANGEMENTS
WORTHY OF ELVIS'S VOICE

work......If you could give six stars, I
would offer it....in my opinion, this is the
best effort to date to showcase Elvis' music
and his rich voice and I hope the beginning
of future additions covering more of this
softer side of his repertoire.
An emotional experience

to this gave me chill bumps all over! I
believe Elvis would have absolutely loved it
as do I. The sound quality and musical
arrangements are outstanding. One can image
Elvis would have moved in this direction.
Although the originals are how we are used
to hearing these songs - having the full
orchestra adds a richness and depth beyond
compare. Bravo to the entire team who put
this together. They have taken some of the
prettiest examples of Elvis' music and added
moondust to them to make them shine! I can
only hope that this is the first of many
they do with Elvis Presley.
By Nancy David on July 22, 2018
this album. it transports me to music
heaven. It truly is an EMOTIONAL
EXPERIENCE listening to this incomparable
and unforgettable singer and his rich
voice sounding even better than before,
and given such fresh musical
accompaniment. He is so tender in the way
he phrases the lyrics. He is so gentle in
his singing, like a delicate flower you
hold in your hands and admire its beauty.

Elvis.....we will NEVER forget you!

time somebody rescued some of these songs
from the doldrums and dressed them up
musically! I also appreciated what they did
with "We'll Be Together." On the original,
some awful group called "The Amigos" sand so
loudly they covered Elvis up in places. But
they have been scaled back and now we hear
him sing some lyrics in Spanish (and of
course English). These
remixes/reorchestrations have revealed
Elvis's voice in places we never heard
before and proven that some of the original
arrangements really sucked, to put it
politely. The new versions are much
