“I Fall To Pieces” —to the 26th song on this
release, the sound quality on this CD will amaze
you. Jim’s unique voice is so rich and clear, and
hypnotic. It’s a technical marvel how they have
erased the original backings and added fresh new
accompaniment, played by what are obviously some
very talented musicians from today. Jim’s greatness
as a singer is even more apparent on these tracks,
as you can hear him more clearly. Obviously a lot of
love and attention to detail was applied when
producing this project. Also noteworthy is that the
CD contains some alternate vocals, even on his
signature song, “He’ll Have To Go” (this time with a
male chorus backing him), a far superior version of
“It’s Nothin’ To Me” than the original RCA release
(different vocal and better accompaniment), “If
Heartache Is the Fashion” (new vocal and original
stereo arrangement), “Mexican Joe” (alternate vocal
that Jim recorded in later years when he sang it
more polished, and a pretty background chorus behind
him). “Distant Drums” has a big orchestral treatment
that will give you goosebumps and underscores the
poignancy of the lyrics. And the highlight: a
previously unreleased, historic demo “Am I Losing
You,” followed by a version he did about a year
later whereby we can literally hear him evolve and
improve as a singer. Amazing! “Jim Reeves The Voice
of the Nashville Sound” is a “must have” for any
true Reeves fan.

I've fallen in love with this CD. I've been playing it all day. Listening to Jim sing I Fall To Pieces is like listening to Jim performing in my own living room. What a treat! And it it's followed by song after beautiful song. Each accompanied by new instruments to reflect the sounds of today. If only Jim could hear this. Maybe he can.
