This is an absolutely wonderful collection. The gentle way the vocals have been treated and the superb arrangements of the new instrumentation make this something very special indeed. I am a fan Rosemary's work, yet the originals often sound "old" (which, of course, they are). The way the music is presented here, it sounds fresh and new, despite the fact that these songs were originally cut 50+ years ago. It is great receiving a new Rosemary Clooney album after all these years! All kudos to Larry Jordan and the gang at H&H / Voice Masters. Fantastic job!

This is an OUTSTANDING compilation - most likely the very best RC compilation out there. I'd like to think I know a thing or two about music (two degrees, regional and national awards, pro recording and compositional experience); and this is a VERY fine and enjoyable recording. Rosey's voice (which in this case was during her best "golden" period) has been blended with these new orchestrations for an absolutely stellar experience. She was one of the greatest interpreters of the Great American Songbook; and now these recordings bring her one-of-a-kind instrument into a new venue of sound. My personal favorites are "Tenderly", "Our Love Affair" and "Danny Boy" but all these tracks are fantastic. If you fancy yourself as a fan or collector of Rosey's and this era of great American music; be sure to pick this up for your collection!

Rosie was in fine form on these tracks, most of which were taken from radio transcriptions. To say that they were 'cleaned up' would be inaccurate. Instead, they were litearlly 'rebuilt' using Clooney as the foundation. Gone are most traces of the Buddy Cole trio and in there place are newly recorded (as well as tastefully arranged and *well* recorded new musical backings. The combination makes for a completely entertaining listen, and it's well worth it.

The last few 'live' tracks are "live in studio" and were taken from an old Armed Forces syndicated radio program. The music is complete and sounds great, but the editing between tracks is slightly sloppy and jarring, and even though the between-tune-patter was obviously rehersed/scripted, it still could have been treated with a bit more care.

You put together a fantastic singer in her prime with tasteful, new musical backing and what do you have? You have Rosemary Clooney: Rare & Unreleased. There are quite a few Clooney releases available, but none like this one. Sure, you can buy the same old, same old Clooney material if you want and there's certainly nothing wrong with that, but if you want to hear Rosemary Clooney at her absolute best, as she might have sounded today, this is the release to get. Personally, my favorite is Tenderly but there isn't a bad track on this cd and it is a real treat to hear her live. If you want to hear one of the outstanding female vocalists of all time, I strongly urge you to listen to the samples at good-music.biz and you'll see what I mean.
